Richmond's Capitol Square could see one of the biggest protests to take place there in years tomorrow, as thousands of protesters gather to protest the Republican Party's extreme anti-woman agenda in the General Assembly this year:
CALL FOR ACTION: On Feb 20th at 11 am, we call for 500 women (but men are very welcome and wanted!) to line either side of the walkway between the General Assembly building and the Capitol in SILENCE as our Senators and Representatives pass between the two buildings several times day to work on passing bills oppressive to women and reproductive rights. **Please note that the legislators WILL be in session on Feb 20!**Right now, as of 2:00pm on Sunday, February 19th, there are over 1,900 people RSVPing on Facebook that they will be coming to this event. I've always found it hard to predict the size of an event from Facebook though. Will everyone who RSVP'd really show? How many people who aren't on Facebook will show? All the same, there's a pretty fair chance that this demonstration could dwarf any recent demonstration that has taken place in Richmond. I will be there participating and trying to get some good footage to share.
We are there to tell our elected representatives: Support women's rights to control their bodies! Don't enact oppressive Anti-choice (what pro-life really means) laws!
A RALLY will follow at 2pm at the Bell Tower with supportive Senators, Delegates, and women's rights leaders.
