Shannon Taylor Announces Her Candidacy for Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney“There will be no delay because I am trained, experienced and ready”, She says
Henrico - Today, Shannon Taylor, an attorney with the law firm of BooneBeale and a former prosecutor in the Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office announced her candidacy as the Democratic nominee for the Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney. Ms. Taylor, a graduate of both the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond Law School, worked for almost a decade as a seasoned prosecutor. In addition, she prosecuted all the Project Exile cases in the Richmond federal court in 1999, which were cases that included the possession and/or use of drugs and guns, and was twice assigned as a federal Special Assistant in the United States Attorney’s office. For four years she was in charge of the Multi-Jurisdictional Grand Jury that included Henrico County as well as the city of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield and Hanover. Her extensive experience covers all types of crime from simple traffic cases to complex murder cases . In addition to handling many jury trials as lead prosecutor, she was also in charge of the “Project Safe Neighborhood” grant (a gun violence project) and “Operation Squalor” (a community prosecution project).
Ms. Taylor said, “The Commonwealth’s Attorney is responsible for public safety and security and is the highest elected law enforcement officer in Henrico. I believe it is imperative that the Commonwealth’s Attorney have the requisite experience to ensure that our community is safe and that offenders are prosecuted and off the streets. Henricoans pay their hard earned taxes to ensure their families’ safety, and I would make sure that their money was well spent.”
