Romney's deep dish pizza fail
Talking heads in the mainstream media are making much of a "prank" in which Mitt Romney sent the leftover deep dish pizza (a signature Chicago dish) from a Romney event in Chicago to Barack Obama's campaign office in Chicago, Illinois. It was a nice effort on behalf of Romney's staff to turn lemons into lemonade, and certainly the press seemed to swallow it hook, line, and sinker, but no one seems to have bothered to ask the obvious question: why did Mitt Romney have so much pizza left over from a "big" campaign event in Chicago?
What happened? Did his staff screw up and order too much? Was Romney no-showed by people who claimed to be his supporters? Romney likes to advertise the fact that he has a lot of campaign money, but pissing away campaign funds by buying your opponent's staffers a free lunch is not the best use of your campaign dollars. The Romney folks tried to salvage the situation with their "prank," but the reality is something went wrong for Romney in Chicago.
I rate Romney's Chicago pizza story a deep dish fail.
