Ms. Galvin was Chair of the Development Areas Initiative Steering Committee (DISC) for Albemarle County that gave rise to the Neighborhood Model. She was the School Board’s representative on the Commission on Children and Families and the Weed and Seed Program. Before serving in elected office, Ms. Galvin was a PTO Council Executive Committee Member and PTO President for Johnson Elementary School.

Ms. Galvin’s comment on the upcoming announcement:
“We’re inviting everyone in Charlottesville to come down to the East end of the Downtown Mall at Noon on Wednesday rain or shine. I am honored that Leah Puryear has offered to introduce me and I am eager to talk to about how we are going to run a positive, issues based campaign for City Council. I believe we can all work together for a city that is Greener, Smarter, Stronger . . . by design.”
Kathy Galvin is also scheduled to appear on Charlottesville—Right Now! with Coy Barefoot on Newsradio 1070 WINA at 5pm on Wednesday May18th. All media and the public are welcome at this event. An interesting addition to the Charlottesville City Council race. An architect and urban designer as a city council person? Someone with relevant local government experience? It's just crazy enough to work.
