Richmond's Sergeant Santa passes away

A Richmond icon passed away yesterday. From the Richmond Times Dispatch:
Dalton Ricky Duling, a retired city policeman known to thousands of underprivileged Richmond children as Sergeant Santa, died Saturday at age 84.

Known for his red Santa suit with the three sergeants stripes and his trademark white beard and hair, Sgt. Duling had packed a marked police cruiser with packages containing comic books, toys, candy and cookies each Christmas Eve since 1973 and headed to low-income neighborhoods.

Richmond has lost one of its best citizens, a man who truly lived the Christmas spirit all year round.
