General Stanley McChrystal will likely be ousted from his command of U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Earlier today, McChrystal met with President Obama for about thirty minutes, and then he left the White House even though a regularly scheduled weekly war-planning meeting was about to begin.
If Obama planned to retain McChrystal in command, it seems to me he would have asked the general to stay and participate in the war-planning meeting. McChrystal's departure before the meeting strongly suggests the general is out. More as the story develops.
Update: President Obama will speak about the McChrystal situation at 1:30 PM EST.
