McDonnell raises taxes on about 300,000 Virginians

Virginia's Republicans and conservatives frequently take the position that any change in laws that results in taxpayers paying more money is, in effect, a tax increase.  By that standard, the administration of Bob McDonnell has raised taxes on approximately 300,000.  McDonnell and the Republican-dominated House of Delegates are doing away with free online filing of state tax returns.  Virginians will now be forced to pay an additional fee (tax?) to private businesses.  Not surprisingly, those private businesses paid generously in donations to Republicans to make the changes.
Great, a tax on paying taxes.  It took Bob McDonnell to pull that one off.  McDonnell has officially failed at his "no new taxes pledge."
