Right wingers make death threat against Democratic member of Congress' children

The Tea Party and its allies on the right wing (including fellow travelers in the Republican Party) took a bold new step towards the future of the Republican Party today, by making death threats against the children of Representative Louise Slaughter (D-New York). This just hours after a Tea Party leader published what he thought was the home address of Congressman Tom Perriello (D-Virginia) online. The address turned out to be that of Perriello's brother who, along with his wife, has four small children under the age of eight who could now be the target of right wing violence.

Update: There has been what appears to be an attempted act of arson at Congressman Tom Perriello's brother's home in Lynchburg, Virginia after local members of the Tea Party identified the home as that of Congressman Perriello. Congressman Perriello is married with four small children below the age of eight.

I see vandalism threats. The article mentions no death threats.

I deplore the idea that vandalism is an appropriate action to take.

You should stop trying to whip people up into a frenzy with such overblown headlines.

I apologize. Now I see the sentence about assassination threats. Missed it on first reading.

That's just idiotic.

No apology necessary, I assumed it was a momentary oversight, as it was.

I agree this behavior is idiotic. It's the product of the "whipping up" by certain folks on the right. It is not my intention to whip things up: far from it.

I am trying to shame good conservatives into regaining control of their movement. The conservative movement is balanced on the edge of a razor. Once conservatives give in to the temptation to use violence for political ends, there will be no turning back.

Only good conservatives can stop that from happening.
