I swung by the Jefferson Hotel this evening to catch the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. In spite of truly miserable weather--cold rain--a large crowd turned out for this bit of Richmond Christmas tradition.
Before the lighting, visitors were treated to a parade of an eclectic mix of costumed characters including a Civil War soldier, Pocahontas, colonists from Henricus, the cast of "A Christmas Carol," and the casts of two different productions of "The Nutcracker."
Finally the moment arrived: Santa Claus paid an early visit to Richmond and lit the Jefferson Hotel's Christmas Tree.
Next stop: Penny Lane Pub. All this rain has me in the mood for a Fuller's London Porter.
