2008 coasts to its finish line

In a few hours 2008 will come to an end.  It's been a year of changes, both in the political world I enjoy watching so much and in my personal life.  The corrupt Republican regime that seemed poised to snuff out democracy in the United States just a few years ago has been decisively defeated at the polls for the second time ion two years.  I've left the accounting world to pursue a more traditional legal career, finding that I enjoy working with other attorneys.
It's been a year of change in the Virginia blogosphere.  The largest and most influential Democratic blog in Virginia will shut down in a few hours, but several new blogs have sprung up to fill the role RK played as a community.  Many small, solo blogs have alos joined the Leftysphere.  The Lefty Blogs in Virginia continue to maintain a massive edge in quality and influence over their Republican rivals, for whatever that may be worth--and we will continue to debate just what precisely that is worth here and on other Virginia blogs, Left and Right.
So let me end this brief post by wishing you and your families a very Happy New Year.  In a few hours we will wake up and begin a new year, perhaps a bit more hopefully than we have for the previous seven years.  Make the most of it.  As Ben Franklin once said, "If you love life, do not waste time, for time is the stuff of which life is made."
